Places To Visit On This Year’s Summer Holiday
Excited for summer? If you’re not, it may be time to plan this year’s big trip abroad. You’ve waited all year to finally get away from same old routine and make some amazing holiday memories, so this is your chance to start planning. If you’re stuck for ideas on where to visit this year, or need a little inspiration, here are a few of our favourite summer getaway spots for 2018-19.
Experience true luxury and adventure in Samoa. If you’re looking to leave the mainland without heading too far afield, the gorgeous, culturally rich island of Samoa is a wonderful spot to visit. It has incredible Samoa accommodation resorts where you can relax in the spa after spending the morning strolling on the beach to take in the dramatic sunrise and take part in fascinating tours of the island. Don’t forget to sample the awesome variety of local culinary dishes – especially their amazing seafood. You can hike, snorkel, explore the local villages, and learn all about Samoan culture while escaping the reality of life back home.
See the picturesque beauty of Santorini. Greece is packed full of wonderful places to visit, but if you have to pick just one spot in Europe this summer, Sanotorini should be somewhere near the top of your list. This stunning island, surrounded by sparkling blue water, has everything the postcards promise when it comes to beauty. It’s incredibly romantic, has a variety of gorgeous beaches (even some secluded spots), and offers the opportunity to take your first ever donkey ride up the island’s teetering streets so you can see a breathtaking sunset from the top.
Switch up the seasons in the UK. Keen to get away from the heat for a little while? In the height of summer here in Australia, it’ll be the dead of winter over in England, so why not pop over for a break from the sweat and a chance to do some sightseeing in London? You can explore fascinating historical locations like the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace, get your fashionable side excited in some of the world’s most famous shopping districts, and wrap up warm for a romantic ice skating evening at Somerset House. Don’t forget to pack for the weather though – it’s bound to be drizzly and chilly, but it could be well worth it for the awesome cultural experience and world-class sightseeing.
Experience true cultural diversity in South Africa. If you’re not keen to step out of summer-mode but still want to visit somewhere far afield, South Africa is a great choice. Cape Town is an awesome spot to start, with stunning Table Mountain overlooking the city and plenty of awesome sightseeing options; from fascinating museums and galleries to the incredible views from the glitzy Camps Bay beach and the overlooking Clifton peaks. Drive out to the world-famous Cape Of Good Hope to spot some whales – but don’t forget to stop at Boulder’s Beach along the way; a surprisingly quiet spot where you can see penguins in their natural habitat and swim alongside them in the ocean. If you want to take some time to spot the Big 5 African animals in the wild, go further up north and take part in an authentic safari in the Karoo.
